Gaira Joof and Abdoulie Sarr shine above all to help The Gambia under 23 team beat Mark Wotte’s Moroccan Olympic side by a goal to nil at the independent stadium.

Coach Omar Sise, rebuked his players for missing chances against Morocco before he praised them for their enterprising performance against the Moroccans.
“It was a difficult game especially the first 45 minutes, they came all out to harassed us and frustrate us but thank God the boys were intelligent enough to controlled them. And we got the goal at the right time. We expect what happened in the second half, that they will come on us and be careful.
“I will blame the boys for not taken chances some times but to get a one zero is better than a draw and it is more better than to loose, so we thank God Alhamdoulilah.” Sise fumed before he praised his boys for their brilliant performance.
The former under 20 head coach thank the football federation for given him and his boys the opportunity to horned their skills against their counterparts from Morocco. Sise, also appealed for more test matches so as he can prepare and scout a team for the Chan qualifiers.
“We loose some of our new players to the under 20, this test game gave us a chance to look at them. The like of Abdoulie Sarr who is one of the youngest, he did a very good job and Gaira, is like we’re looking at the boys for the CHAN because we’re are rule out of the under 23 but what I have seen is promising and hopefully we can have more test matches like this so that we can give a test to our boys”.
“Definitely it was frustrating because it was like when we were a goal down to them. We were forcing them and they were forcing us too. We lost a little bit of our formation but we came back to controlled everything and thank God we ended up with a one zero.” He explained.
