First and second place in the domestic second tier league,Sporting Real fc and Waa Banjul fc settled for a draw in match held at the KG5 Mini Stadium in Banjul on 14th May 2019.
The Young Whites (sporting Real) Has been on fantastic form likewise the Banjul based Waa Banjul , Both team have been excellent throughout the season with only a single point separating the two sides at the top of the summit.
Sporting still leads at the top despite the barren stalemate and Waa Banjul right behind team. Leaders Sporting Real won 15 of their match fixtures ,drew 7 and lost only 3 and are currently with 52 points after 25 games played.
The Banjulians Waa banjul fc in second place won 15 games,drew 6 games and lost 4 games out of 25 games played with 52 points. Sporting Real could not Extend their lead as they hope for, as Waa Banjul also couldn’t go atop of the league either. This fixtures was crucial for the young whites, on their title hopes in their debut season .
Waa Banjul Fc Started the game Strongly as the young white remain resolute at the back, foiling every attack by their opponents at beginning of the encounter. The first chance game fell to Salifu Cooley as a long ball towards Alieu Barry freed the forward and he played in Salifu Colley who fired straight at the keeper
Another Sporting Real chance went begging as Alieu Barry’s effort came off a Waa Banjul defender for a corner in the 35th mins. Waa banjul mounted pressure in the dying minutes of the first half but could not break through as the referee signalled for the break.
After the break both team applied the the same procedures and tactics to hamper each others attacks. There where instants of brilliant individual manoeuvres and display of skills from both young sides. The game went on from one end to the other but no goals for both sides and it ended a barren stalemate at the KING GEORGE IV in Banjul.
Both clubs are freshening up for division one league football next season with such a brilliant run in this competition.
