Fortune football club faced off with Brikama united in a derby game held at the Independece Stadium in Bakau on the 17th May 2019
Fortune fc run of form after the second run of the league sees them flying high as they salvage vital points before taking on Brikama United in a masterpiece show at the stadium.
Fortune fc are currently in 6th position with 32 points after 23 games played while 3rd place Brikama are 37 points after 23 games. Fortune have won 4 games drawn 1 in their last outings whiles Brikama Uinted won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 in their previous encounters.
The petroleum boys started with a high spirit well motivated and determination as the game kicked off. There was not much to say in the first 18th minuets of the game as both teams keep cancelling each others efforts and the ball keep running from one end of the pitch to the other.
It was in the 20th minuets until the first chance at goal came as Bully Drammeh’s brilliant free-kick was saved by the Brikama United Goalie. Brikama United mounted some pressure after that first save that rattled them. They had a chance to take the lead in the 30th mins but Yankuba Sabally denied them the opportunity with a double save in quick succession.
Bully was a joy to watch… tormenting his former team with brilliant maneuvers and support from the midfield. The deadlock was finally broken in the 35th mins as Lamin Saidykhan alias Lefoe scored a brilliant free-kick.
Fortune took the lead to the break leaving brikama a mountain to claim after the break. After the break Brlkama united came in strong dominating it, having the lion share of the possession. They camped in the Fortune football club half, but yet couldn’t penetrate their defence line.
Youssouf Diabang had a golden opportunity in the 86th mins but shot straight at the goalie, and brikama players were appealing for a penalty but the central referee Maudo Jallow ignored the claims continued with the game
Brikama applied more pressure but the petroleum boys were up to the task and it ended at the stadium 1 nil in favour of Fortune fc. a hard fought victory for the petroleum boys. at the top gap is reduced to 1point between the top 3 teams respectively after week 23.
