GAMBIA FF: DOGFIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE SUMMIT AS THE DOMESTIC LEAGUE ONE REACHES IT’S PEAK

As the domestic league reaches it’s peak, the battle at the top keeps getting interesting and also very fierce. The three-horse race for the league title has seen Real De Banjul, Gambia Armed Forces fc and Brikama United keep toppling each other hoping to consolidate their grip at the top.

Brikama United narrow victory over the weekend accorded the table toppers a season’s double over the all white outfit (Real de Banjul) with a 1 nil scoreline, their previous game also ended with the same scoreline . Real de banjul and Armed forces settled for a stalemate in both encounters of the season. Brikama United beat Armed forces in their first encounter of the season by 1 goal to nil and a vice versa with a 2 nil scoreline to armed forces.

Armed Forces in their last five outings, won 1, drew 4 and lost 1, they are in third place with 38 points out of 23 games played. They have a game in hand to play in week 24 of the league. Real de banjul registered three wins, a win and a lost in the last five encounters, they are in second place of the table with 39 points out of 24 games played. Brikama United lead at the top with 40 points after a stretch of ten wins and draws, after 24 games played.

Armed forces will face the city boys (Banjul United) in their next fixture in week 24 of the league before facing stuttering academy boys (Samger fc) in their final game.

The all white boys (Real de Banjul) will take on the ferry boys (Gambia Ports Authority) in their final match. Brikama United will host the Blue boys record champions ( Wallidan Football club) in the final game also.
