The all whites (Real de Banjul) entertained the manjai Kunda based club Marimoo Fc at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama on Sunday 9th June 2019 in their last game of the season 2018/2019.
The Last time these two club clashed, Marimoo Fc had the upper hand as they beat Real De Banjul by two goals to nil, and hoping to complete a double of the season. Real De Banjul are currently second in the table standings and Marimoo Fc are in 6th position.
Five minutes into the game and Real de Banjul are already dictating the pace of the game, while Marimoo fc struggling to settle in the game. Real de banjul’s sensation Pa Modou Sohna was just outstanding pulling the strings for real de banjul, showcasing his brilliance and skills to the delight of the fans and spectators alike.
Barely ten minutes into the game and Marimoo began to discover their footings and confidence, posing real threat to real de banjul and pegging them back from their continuous attacks and forcing them to defend as well. Marimoo Fc break the deadlock in the twelve minutes of the game through Ismaila Ceesay to give his side the lead.
Real de banjul rattled by the Marimoo fc’s goal, stepped up their attack once again after twenty-five minutes in search for an equaliser. James Gomez’s shot from range to the top corner of the post nearly gave real de banjul the equaliser they were looking for only for goalie Mboge faye to parried it away in the 38th minutes.
The pressure mounted by Real de banjul paid off int he 40th minutes as real got the equaliser they much need when Pa Modou Sohna master class brilliant run through the Marimoo FC midfield and played into Mustapha Jallow who perfectly placed the ball in the net to give his side the leveller .
Real de banjul got their second of the game in the dying minutes of the first-half as they were awarded a controversial spot-kick, when the ball was kick onto the hands of a Marimoo fc player lying on the ground in the penalty area. Prompting the players to protest against the decision of the referee which he ignored. Abdoulie Bah stepped up and buried the spot-kick. They went to the break with Real de Banjul on the front-foot, leading two goals to one.
After the break, Real came in more determined and strong. They came closer for their third as Ebrima Sidibeh in swing cross into the Marimoo area was met by Mustapha Jallow header into the back of the net only to be ruled out by the linesman for an off-side.
The referee ruled out another goal in the 70th minutes as Ebrima Sidibeh’s cross was headed in by Mustapha Jallow but the referee signalled for an off-side once more.
The began to turned physical in the last ten minutes. Marimoo were reduced to 10-men after reckless tackle by their defender in the 88th minutes . It ended two goals to one in favour of all whites Real De Banjul.
