The Gambia and Atalanta youngster Ebrima Colley handed Atalanta’s Primavera ( under 19 ) it’s first league Cup since 1998. Ebrima scored the winner of the game in the 84th minutes. The 19 year old winger’s goal proved decisive.
Atalanta U19 plays it’s competition in group C of the Campionato Nazionale Primavera, this has been their second as champions in the competition. They first won it in back in 1997/98 season. Torino are the record champions for this category, they’ve won it nine times. Atalanta faced the record champions Torino in the semi final and beat them 4:3. Ebrima scored a brace in that tie in a space of two minutes after coming off the bench in the 74th minutes. all goals came in extra time.
Inter Milan were the better team in the first half as they pressed high and were more of a threat than Atalanta, Inter were also sloppy in front of goal . They could have buried the game had they taken the chances they had.
Atalanta first goal threat came in the 44th minutes of the first half, the goalkeeper denied Atalanta’s Heidenreich a goal as he palmed his header away from goal. They went to the break goalless.
After the break it was the same as the first half with Inter posing the most threats of the game as Atalanta’s defence were up to the task also, cancelling all attacks. Inter nearly took the lead in the 74 minutes but the woodwork saved the goalie.
Ebrima Colley’s cool head finisher handed Atalanta the lead in the 83rd minutes after mounting a counter attack. Ebrima colley’s goal tally is now 13 goals in 21 games this season.
The youngster thank his coach after the game, praising him. “This dream has come, we worked on it from day one and I’m very happy. Massimo Brambilla is the best coach of world , knows how to make the team play in an incredible way. We are happy to work with him “.
