Barely 13 minutes into the game and Lillestrøm Sportsklubb’s Sheriff Sinyan was sent off as they take on Vikings in the Norwegian Eliteserien league, the top flight of Norwegian football.
Sheriff Sinyan got the red card after a duel with Vikings Tommy Høiland. The LSK players protested tremendously on the decision but the referee stood firm on his decision with his assistants.
Despite been one man down the host went on to dominate the the game with more chances at goal but falter to capitalise on those chances. They went on to defend with ten-men till the struck of halftime as they found themselves wanting when vikings’s Kristian Thorstvedt took their only clear-cut at goal of the first half to give Vikings the lead.
After the break came back more determined and focussed mounting waves of attacks. They lost their Number 10 Thomas Lehne Olsen half way into the second half through injury. Lillestrøm had a penalty in the 35ft minuets but the referee ignored and continued with the game. Lillestrøm went on to suffer anther blow as Vikings doubled their lead, again from a poorly defended corner. It ended 0:2 in favour of Vikings
Shortly after the game Former referee Svein Erik Edvartsen wrote on twitter
“Absolutely wrong red card to deprive obvious chance. First of all, I do not think this is a free kick and even if it is blown, it is in any case wrong with red because this important criterion is not met: The distance between where the offense happened and the goal »
