The Gambia National Deaf Football team representing the Gambia at the 9th ECOWAS/ WADFT came back home from Sierra Leone with 25 Brozen medals and 3 silver medals.
The team took 3rd place at the regional tournament which automatically gave them an opportunity to participate in the 2020 ECOWAS Deaf football Tournament in Banjul.
This is the first time that the Gambia Deaf football team have claimed medals and position in the sub region. The trip was fully sponsored by MoYS through National Sports Council and with help of The Gambia High Commissioner in Freetown Serra Leone.
Logicsport spoke with the team president Lamin Ceesay on few issues that the team is facing and he rendered his appreciation for the help they received throughout the tournament.
” Surely I appreciated the greatest efforts and intentions of Our Embassy staffs in Freetown”
” I would not hesitate to thank them for that great humanity and humanitarian service towards us”.
Lamin Ceesay also lamented the lack of adequate support and also hoping for a better preparation for the 2020 Regional tournament to be held here in the Gambia. The National Deaf Team also represent the country therefore should be taken into consideration.
