Sulayman Ceesay, Puntalana FC speedy wing-back scored a whopping 30 yard goal which earned Puntalana FC a 1-0 victory over Misira United and a place into the semi finals of Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) Nawettan. Coach Adama Sabally’s boys (Misra United), were by far the sharpest of the two teams in the first ten minute of the pulsating encounter.
Kalilu Ceesay, Misra FC’s sensational striker, missed a glorious chance to put Misra on the driving seat. Kalilu was put through on goal with Puntalana FC netminder Joseph Chinti and Kalilu was sluggish to the dismayed of coach Adama Sabally and Misra United faithfuls which allowed Puntalana FC defender Louis Bass to put off a sliding tackle to avert danger in the ten minute.
Moments later, Sulayman Ceesay saw his cross-bound shot flew pass Misra goalie Modou Njie-Kinteh in the 26th minute to the delight of the cheerful Puntalana FC fans. Sulayman, overlapped down in the right flank and sends in an intended crossed which inexplicable eludes the Misra FC goalkeeper and it was one-nil for Puntalana FC.
From Sulayman Ceesay’s goal, the pendulum swung in favour of Misra FC. They dominated the rest of the proceedings in the first stanza but they could not translate their ball possession into chances. Puntalana FC were once again more productive even after the lemon time.
Papis Nyassi, the leading goalscorer of BSC with eight (6) goals had a chance to increased his side tally to 2-0. But this time Modou Njie-Kinteh dove to his right to produced a fingertip saved in the 66 minute. Misra United were firing shots in all angles but all their shot either way off target or they balloon them high over the crossbar. Thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Puntalana FC.
