5-4 penalty shootouts victory over Star Academy of Essau, following a hard fought goalless draw at regulation time.

In a well attended final played at the Essau Field, it was wrapped up as a memorable season for the Farafenni based outfit, who are well on course to make a sensational return to the GFF national second division League as champions of North Bank Region.

As champions, Young Icons were given out a giant trophy, gold medals, and a cheque amounting to Fifty Thousand Dalasis (D50, 000) while Star Academy of Essau were consoled with a cheque amounting to Thirty Thousand Dalasis (D30, 000).

The final was graced by a GFF high powered delegation led by fourth Vice President and President of Women’s Football Association Ms Sainabou Cham and Exco Members and president of Lower River Region Football Association Mr Ansumana Sanneh, Mr Momodou Musa Njai and Ms Chumban Faye and Ms Bintou Bojang from the Women’s Football Committee whilst Mr Edirissa Jammeh represented the GFF competitions department.
