The Gambia national U-20 today wrapped up their technical preparations ahead of the forthcoming WAFU Zone A U-20 tournament Liberia 2024

An impressive 2-1 victory over a selection of First and Second Division league players at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The game played behind closed doors started with high intensity with both sides pressing and looking for the opener. The Young Scorpions hit the first blow with Bakary Touray’s stunning volley in the 26th-minute to lead the scoring. The pressure prevailed until in the second half just 2 minutes from the break when. Mustapha Joof’s deflected shoot restored parity for the Selection Team.

Lamin Sillah put up a thunderous right footed shot well placed into the roof to seal the victory for the Young Scorpions after Coach Abdoulie Bojang made a wholesome changes to bring in fresh legs. Sillah’s goal was the send off for Lie Bojang and his charges.

The team is set to camp on Saturday at the Football Hotel in Old Yundum and expected to leave Banjul in the early hours of Sunday morning. While in Liberia, the Young Scorpions will play an international friendly with the Liberia U-20 side before the tournament kicks off on 15th September 2024.
