The Gambia U-20 team played to a 2-2 draw in their opening match of the WAFU A tournament against neighboring Senegal.

Young Scorpions’ goal scorers Lamin Sillah and Alasana Badjie also shared their thoughts on the 2-2 draw against Senegal.

Young Teranga Lions of Senegal took a lead just few minutes into the first half. After the break, Steve Biko’s striker Lamin Sillah equalized in 52nd minute restoring hope for the Young Scorpions. Just seven minutes later, substitute and Real de Banjul forward Alasana Badjie doubled the lead for The Gambia.

However, this lead couldn’t be maintained as Senegal levelled the score and the game ended 2-2 with both teams securing a point.

Abdourahman Dia came in as a substitute to rescue his team from a defeat. A strike from him was enough for Senegal to share points with Gambia.
He has been a key player for his team, he scored the winner in their last game against Mali and equalised in today’s game against Gambia. After the derby, Dia was awarded the Man of the Match.
